Coolair Evaporative Cooling
Affordable, efficient cooling for Australian conditions
What Is Direct Evaporative Cooling?
Evaporative cooling works by drawing warm, dry outdoor air through water-saturated cooling pads. As the air passes through the pads, the water naturally evaporates and absorbs heat, producing a steady stream of cooler air. A fan then distributes this fresh, chilled air throughout your building via ductwork.
For evaporative cooling to work at its best, the pads need to remain fully soaked and the fan system must be correctly sized for the area it’s cooling. When set up properly, the system mimics a natural cooling process—often described by terms like “evaporative air conditioning,” “adiabatic cooling,” “ducted evap cooling,” “swamp coolers,” or “desert coolers.”

How Coolair Systems Work
Warm outside air is drawn into a rooftop unit where it passes through specially engineered Chillcel™ pads. As water evaporates from the pads, the air temperature drops. The cooled air is then pushed through ducting into the building, replacing hot indoor air with fresh, filtered, cooler airflow.
This process is continuous, ensuring a constant supply of newly cooled air—not recycled or stale air.
Advanced Control Options
Seeley International’s MagIQtouch® Smart Controls give you simple, intelligent control over your cooling system. From touchscreen interfaces to indoor and outdoor sensors, the system is easy to install, intuitive to operate, and can be integrated with most building management systems (BMS).
Benefits of Evaporative Cooling
100% Fresh Air
Air is never recirculated—hot air exits through windows, doors, or extraction fans, keeping your workspace healthier and more comfortable.
High Ventilation Rates
Ideal for large warehouses, factories, and open spaces where traditional AC is economically unrealistic.
Targeted Cooling
Cool intense heat spots—such as areas near machinery—with fast-moving fresh air.
Improved Air Quality
Cooling pads help filter out dust and airborne impurities as outside air is drawn in.
Environmentally Friendly Cooling
Lower Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Evaporative systems cool using water and air—no harmful refrigerants.
Energy Savings
In many regions, evaporative cooling can reduce power use by up to 86% and significantly cut carbon emissions compared to refrigerated systems.
Smart Water Use
Automated water management ensures the system uses only what it needs, replacing water when mineral levels rise. Wastewater can be repurposed for irrigation, fire tanks, or greywater systems.
Low Running Costs
For large commercial or industrial buildings, refrigerated air conditioning can be costly to install and run. Evaporative cooling provides a far more economical alternative while still delivering strong airflow and comfort—especially in hot, dry climates.
Suitable Applications
- Printing and packaging
- Electronics manufacturing
- Automotive workshops and showrooms
- Ceramics and glass facilities
- Food production and storage
- Warehouses and distribution centres
A Healthier Workplace
Evaporative cooling supplies continuous fresh air, helping maintain good indoor air quality and supporting a healthier environment. Increased humidity can also reduce irritation and dehydration, making it a popular choice for workplaces focused on staff comfort and wellbeing.
